The Discovery Channel will broadcast Scouting’s first ever national TV ad tonight at 8.30pm. The advert will promote our need for more volunteers in Scouting.
The advert will also be aired on Discovery’s Animal Planet TV channel at around 8.45pm, and will continue to be broadcast by Discovery’s network of channels throughout the next four weeks.
Make a difference
The 30-second advert has been created as part of our partnership with Discovery and highlights how adults can make a difference to young people’s lives by volunteering.
There are currently 33,000 young people on the waiting list to join Scouting. Discovery and The Scout Association have now joined forces to recruit new leaders. So if you’re ready to inspire the younger generation, guide them on real fun-filled adventure, then why not become a volunteer for the Scouts.
There are a variety of ways to join in and opportunities to volunteer with us are flexible, so simply visit our join pages to find out more
Discover Scouting
Discovery is one of the most famous TV brands in the world; over 3.7 million people tune into one of Discovery’s 12 channels in the UK on a daily basis.
With a mutual love of the outdoors, both Discovery and the Scouts believe that we can challenge people through adventure and exploring the world around them. Our partnership started by introducing the Scout’s Pioneer Activity Badge, which is sponsored by Discovery and aims to inspire youngsters to learn by doing.

The above advert is a 30-second edit of the aspirational Expect More short film, which was launched in June 2012. Initially broadcast on social media and through advertising on parent websites, the film is one of the most shared items on The Scout Association’s Facebook page.
