On Sunday 8th September, Mersey Weaver Explorers Joseph, Kyle, Saul and William together withTarget Sports Support Team members Colin, Declan and Duncan took part in ScoutShoot 2024 at Bisley Ranges near Woking, Surrey. Mersey Weaver entered 3 pairs (Declan and Kyle; Duncan and Saul, William and Joseph) and two teams (Team A: Declan, Kyle, Saul and Team B: Duncan, William and Joseph).
Our Adults and Explorers had a throughly enjoyable time and returned home in good spirits with a haul of medals, showcasing their hard work, dedication, and exceptional skills in various disciplines.
This excellent performance, against other participants who compete at the national level, is a testament to the dedication and effort of our youth members who take part in our District Target Sports programme and particularly those who participate in the District Shooting Squad monthly training sessions run by our Target Sports Support Team. Over the past few months, they have honed their skills and sharpened their focus, culminating in this outstanding achievement.
The competitions consisted of a number shooting disciplines involving 7.62mm rifle (scoped and dipodic sights) at 300 yards, 0.38 Winchester under lever rifle at 25m, 5.52mm semi automatic rifle 25mm turning target, and field target with 0.177 air rifle (scoped). Approximately 180 adult and youth members participated in the competition which was organised by Surrey Scouts Rifle Club.
For Joseph and William this was their first time at ScoutShoot, as well as shooting full bore rifles and at 300 yard distances. They put in good performances
