The annual shooting completion for Districts in Cheshire Scouts was hosted by Mersey Weaver District on the 26th November. The event took place using the indoor range at our District Scout Centre, Frodsham.
The event is designed for the Scouts and Explorers from all districts within Cheshire County to come together and compete shoulder to shoulder. The aim is to encourage participation irrespective of ability. To encourage a level playing field for all competitors all equipment was supplied and no ‘specialist equipment’ allowed.
This year, nearly 50 youth members representing Alderley, Chester & District, Mersey Weaver, South West Cheshire, Warrington East and Warrington West Districts participated. Six of the nine Scout Districts of Cheshire Scout County were therefore represented.
The competition consisted of all the members of each team (up to 8 persons per team) shooting both pistol and rifle using pre-charged firearms at a distance of 6 yards, in the one day, and the team aggregate score for both being added to decide the overall Trophy winners (pistol, rifle and overall). There were also gold, silver and bronze medals for individual rifle, pistol and overall.
Each team member shot 4 cards free standing using pre-charged air pistol and 4 cards using pre-charged air rifle (one shot at each diagram) : each limited to 5 shots only at each card. All 4 cards were then submitted to be scored. In each discipline, the top 6 individual scores counted to the team aggregate score.
