The Water Activities Team exists to develop, give advice and provide instruction and support for the following Activities in the District:
Canoeing
Bell Boating
Dragon Boating
Dinghy Sailing
Kayaking
Narrow boating
Power Boating
Rowing
Surfing
White Water Rafting
Windsurfing
Yachting/Keel-Boating
The role of the Water Activities Team is to:
- promote the benefits of Water Activities in the District;
- promote the District’s Leadership Development Fund;
- support additional adults in the district to gain both Scouting permits and NGB qualifications so more young people in the district can experience these activities;
- share best practice and educate how to run activities safely;
- provide a pool of permit holders willing to lead or supervise activities groups in the District;
- organise related training for Leaders, Network & Explorers e.g. REC First Aid Courses;
- organise regular experiences and tasters for adults to develop their own skills in the Mountains;
- organise District events related to water activities;
- promote the County’s Tatton Park Activity Centre, Runcorn Rowing Club and Frodsham Sailing Club as a bases for Water Activities;
- specifically work with the District’s Sea Scouts in Frodsham;
- support Network and Explorers with training and planning for both domestic & international expeditions;
- support with District owned equipment such as the Kayaks, Dinghies, Windsurfs and Power boats;
- identify the need for any additional district owned equipment to enable more Water related Activities in the District;
The ASU will develop a strategy for these activities so that they become a regular event on the programmes of all sections/groups/units in the District.
