District Heat | Scout Patrol Challenge 2024
May 25 @ 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
For those that remember the Lord Derby Competition, Mersey Weaver Invites you to the District Heats of the Scout Patrol Challenge 2024
We are looking for representation from each scout group to put forward at least one patrol to pit their wits in a foray of new scouting based activities requiring Leadership, Teamwork, team spirit and creative thinking.
It will be an action packed day full of activities such as: Firelighting, Backwoods Cooking, Shelter Building, Erecting Tents, First Aid, Pioneering and more!
So whats involved
The Scout Patrol Challenge is based on the nine SCOUT CHALLENGES. The patrols do not need to have extensive scouting skill expertise but are able to follow instructions, use their initiative and have fun. It also takes into account leadership and team spirit. The aim of the day is to be enjoyable and let the Scouts try new activities and challenges.
And What Are The Rules
Teams are a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 Scouts and the average age should be no more than 13 years and 0 months on the day of the competition. One PL and APL should be nominated in advance in the team.
Each participating group should allow 2x leaders to help with the running of a base, supported by explorers from across the district.
Bases will be 25 minutes in total and there will be a 5-minute clearing away/moving time. Teams will not leave their base to move on until the whistle is sounded to avoid arriving early at the next base.
Bases are to be themed around the Scout challenge badges and should be any kind of problem-solving activity. The challenges should be clearly linked to specific requirements for each badge.
The marking scheme will be out of ten for each of the following categories: leadership, teamwork and achieving the task.
How do we enter?
Speak to your Scout Leader about entering a team. Your Scout leader can get into touch with either Matty or Andy, The ADC’s (Assistant District Commissioners) for Mersey Weaver to make reserve a team prior to bookings
Where Next??
The two winning Patrols from the district heats will be entered into the county event on the 15th June, competing against patrols from across the length and breadth of cheshire.
