Cub Hillwalking Experience

The Mersey Weaver Hillwalking & Trekking ASU are delighted to announce that we will be running a number of Hillwalking experiences for Cubs from any pack in the months of November, March, April, May, and July.

This will be an exciting opportunity to take in spectacular scenery and gain an introduction to various navigation skills that will prepare this age group for when they move up to Scouts and beyond! The intention is that these will be run as one off “tasters”, with loosely nearly every Sixer from every Cub pack given the opportunity to attend at least one of the day trips which are run throughout the year.  Taking part in the experiences will earn the Cubs a Hikes Away Badge and we will cover elements of both the stage 3 and 4 Navigator Badges.

The first of these experiences will be on Saturday 18th November. This particular walk will likely take place in the Clywdian Range in North Wales but might change dependent on weather. We expect the walk will be approx 8km in length and the highest point we will potentially go is 600m.

Dates for the experiences in 2018 will follow but the format will be similar. The number of places on the experiences will be limited and dependent on the number of permit holders. Places will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Transport will be provided from the District Scout Centre in Frodsham by Minibus. There will be a charge of £10 to cover the cost of transport, fuel, maps, parking etc. Cubs will need to be dropped off at 08:00hrs and we will aim to be back for 16:00hrs.
