We’re looking for enthusiastic people to join the District team or support with a few tasks that help us support our amazing section teams to create unforgettable experiences for local young people! Whether you’re a seasoned Scouter or new to volunteering, there are roles, teams or tasks to suit everyone and we are putting out an open call to anyone who’d like to make a contribution no matter how big or how small.

Keeping everyone safe is at the heart of our culture in Scouts, and collectively our teams of volunteers play a key part in this. Whatever your background, identity or ability, there’s a volunteer spot with your name on it. A District is the sum of its parts and works best when everyone works together to help and support each other.
Below you’ll find some simple descriptions of some of our teams will help you find the perfect one that matches your skills and interests.

Leadership Team
The District Leadership Team leads and inspires volunteers to give young people great experiences and skills for life. They make sure their District teams are organised, have enough volunteers, and can deliver a great programme.
Trustee Board
The Trustee Board is a team of volunteers who work together, as charity trustees, to make sure Scouts is run safely and legally. At the heart of their role is a focus on strategy, performance and assurance. Effective Trustee Board governance helps our volunteers deliver fantastic programmes that give young people skills for life.
Programme Team
The District Programme Team helps every section in the District run a safe, enjoyable and quality programme. To help do this, they bring Section Team volunteers together with activity experts. They also support the Nights Away Permit Scheme and Adventurous Activities. The Programme Team have a number of sub-teams made of people who enjoy sharing their passion of adventurous activities with young people.
Volunteering Development Team
The District Volunteering Development Team makes sure all volunteers in the District have a positive and enjoyable volunteering experience. They make it easy for people to join, learn new skills and are thanked and recognised for what they do. The Volunteering Development Team has three sub teams who each focus on Welcoming and inducting new volunteers, Supporting learning opportunities and Awards and recognition.
Support Team
The District Support Team gives tools and resources to help Scouts run smoothly and enhance everyone’s experience. The team is made up of a number of sub teams who look after our activity centres, minibuses, digital tools, administration, social media, communications, fundraising, membership enquires, joining list and services like our Scout Store.
14-24 Team
The 14–24 Team helps all volunteers in Explorer, Young Leader, and Scout Network Section Teams. They help Section Teams plan and deliver great programmes for young people in that age range.
