Eight members od Mersey Weaver Target Sports Team participated in ScoutShoot run by Surrey County Scouts at the National Shooting Centre on Sunday 5th September 2026. Unlike in Cheshire, it was very warm sunny day in Bisley near Guildford. This year was the biggest ScoutShoot ever and was oversubscribed.
Our eight participants (Micheal – Aquila ESU, Luke -Cestrian ESU, Joseph – Cestrian ESU, Saul, – MW YLU William – MW YLU, Declan – 1st Moore, Duncan – 1st Moore and Colin) spent the day competing in five events with around 130-140 Explorers and Adult Volunteers both individually, and in teams:
- Fullbore target rifle open sights, 300 yards,;
- Fullbore rifle scoped, 300 yards;
- 0.38 Gallery rifle : Underlever ‘cowboy’ rifle;
- Self-loading 0.22 rifle turning target ; and
- Self-loading 0.22 rifle Snap and shoot .

Across all the individual 12 trophy events, our 8 participants finished 8 times in the top 5, 20 times in the top 10 and 28 times in the top 25.
Well done to everyone, with a special congratulations to Luke who won 5 medals at his 1st Scout Shoot.
