Each month we plan to interview a different person from the District Team. This month we’re hearing from our new District Lead Volunteer, Tom Salvini

Tom started his Scouting journey in 2022 in Warrington East, and this was coincidentally at one of the Cheshire Hike starts:
“It was great to see so many of our Mersey Weaver groups, volunteers and families at 4th Warrington Scout head quarters, one of the starts of the Cheshire Hike, and the start of my own Scouting journey.”
“I was seeing my own son’s team off and there was lots of excitement and nervousness.”
“All the volunteers, including quite a few from Mersey Weaver, had been there since 6am and were well supplied with bacon butties by Celia one of the Cheshire Support Team Members from Widnes to keep them going.”
“It was great to see all the young people embarking on what will be, for some of them, one of the hardest tests of their mental and physical strength they have undertaken.”
“Over the past five months the highlight has definitely been getting to visit nearly all of the Groups, attending my first Chamboree, and welcoming volunteers to our Camp Fire Social – minus the flames due to the restrictions, but still with some silly games, feedback post-its, and delicious chilli and nachos cooked by Jenny one of our Trustees.”
“For me personally this month has been about getting up to speed on my inbox and Scouts.org.uk – please bear with me as I learn all of that!”
“Below there is a post about the plan so far this term, and how you can get involved in designing all the exciting activities we will get up to in 2027.”
“Please do drop me a line if you have any questions, thoughts or ideas – we can’t promise to do them all but we will try!”
