Over the summer holidays, members of Mersey Weaver joined 6,000 other Scouts and Guides from across the world at Chamboree 2026.
Chamboree was an opportunity for young people from across the Scouting community to come together for an exciting programme of adventure, challenge and friendship. It provided a space for young people to experience new activities, develop their skills, and enjoy everything that a large-scale Scouting event has to offer.
Mersey Weaver was proudly represented by 4th Widnes, 10th & 8th Widnes, 1st Moore, 6th Runcorn, Murdishaw, 1st Helsby, 1st Halton, 3rd Frodsham, 4th Frodsham, 3rd Frodsham, 1st Norley, 1st Ince & Elton and Windmill Hill.
For the very first time, the Mersey Weaver 14-24 Team also organised a joint coalition between our five Explorer units with representation from Aquila, Beacon, Cestrian, Draco and our Young Leader unit.
With so many groups and young people from the youngest Squirrel to the oldest Explorer, it was a fantastic opportunity to meet other Scouts, take part in activities and make memories together while also experiencing the international side of Scouting.
From exploring the Animal Kingdom theme and taking part in activities across the site to meeting Scouts and Guides from around the world, Chamboree offered something for everyone. The partnership with Chester Zoo also gave participants the chance to learn about conservation, take part in citizen science and discover how small actions can make a difference to wildlife and the environment.
At the heart of Chamboree was the opportunity for young people to challenge themselves. Whether trying something for the first time, working together as a team or meeting Scouts from other groups, every part of the experience offered an opportunity to build confidence and independence. The event also demonstrated the impact that Scouting can have on young people. Behind every activity were volunteers giving their time to create an experience where young people could have fun, feel included and make memories that they will take away with them for years to come.
“All I can say is wow! Chamboree 2026 did not disappoint. Everything was amazing, even the weather. Whereever I went, I saw smiles on young peoples faces and their leaders laughing or smiling with the young people. That is what Scouting is about – seeing everyone having fun. At Chamboree, we held a Network meet-up, which was really nice to connect with everyone and start making some plans. Exciting times are ahead. I just wanted to say a huge thank you, to all of our volunteers to gave up their time in the preparation, at the event and after, without your help, no one would have been able to have that much fun. Thank you!”
